Shields vs Marshall LIVE Score and Reaction

Shields gives Marshall fans the middle fingers at weigh-in in London

In a historic night for women's boxing, it was Claressa Shields whose fame continued to rise after she delivered a gutsy Savannah Marshall to emerge as the undisputed world middleweight champion.

The fight went on instantly and built buzz to fill an expectant crowd at a sold-out London O2 Arena, with all the girls going into the night undefeated and sharing a collection of vicious concoctions. Thrilling through and through, Shields' tough armor showed true class in weathering a storm as the Briton, acclaimed by her fans, routinely caught the GWOAT on the ropes.

But Shields' cunning and composure in the eye of the storm proved crucial, firing off precise counter-punches to deliver unanimous determination and write a new chapter in women's boxing.

“I did what I do as a coach and I finished the job. I want to thank Savannah Marshall, it was a special night for women's boxing and I think it was the fight of 12 months.

“[Savannah] is a tough competitor, a tough fighter and she has stamina, but I am the better fighter. I really feel like I'm 2-0 against them as I don't think I lost in the fans, but you could probably say we're 1-1. I know I probably did most of the work today.

“There was a rematch clause if there was a disputed decision, but it was unanimous. If that's what the fans want, then we'll do it."
